Federal Tax Credit (IRA Section 30C)
The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit covers 30% of the cost of equipment and installation, up to $1,000 for residential installations. The credit applies to both the charger hardware and the electrical work — permits, labor, and materials.
Dominion Energy Virginia Rebate
Dominion Energy offers rebates for Level 2 EV charger installations for residential customers. The rebate amount varies by year and program availability — check with your Dominion account for current amounts. Dominion also offers off-peak charging rates that significantly reduce the cost of charging.
“Infinite Electric helped us understand the rebate process. Between the federal credit and Dominion rebate, our net cost was much lower than expected. — Uzzie C., Manassas VA”
Virginia Programs
Virginia offers the Charging Forward Rebate Program for home EV charger installations. BGE and Pepco (Exelon utilities) offer additional rebates for customers in their service territories. Virginia also offers an excise tax credit for EV purchases that reduces upfront vehicle cost.
How to Maximize Your Credits
Save all receipts for the charger equipment and our installation invoice — these are the documentation you'll need for the federal tax credit. For utility rebates, the application typically requires a photo of the installed charger and a copy of the permit or inspection sign-off, which we provide.
