Low pressure can mean a simple aerator clog or a failing main line. Here's how to diagnose before you call.
Brownlee Plumbing · Alexandria, VA
Low water pressure has a range of causes — from minor (clogged aerator on one fixture) to serious (corroded galvanized supply lines affecting the whole house).
Start specific: if it's one faucet, unscrew the aerator and clean it. Mineral buildup in Alexandria's water supply will clog aerators over time. If cleaning restores pressure, you're done.
If pressure is low throughout the house, check the main shut-off valve — it may have been partially closed and forgotten. Fully open it and recheck.
If neither explains it, you're likely looking at corroded galvanized pipes or a pressure regulator valve that's failing. Both require a plumber. Brownlee Plumbing can diagnose which and give you an accurate scope before any work begins.
