Answers to common remodeling questions. We are based in Woodbridge, VA.
Which areas do you serve?
We are based in Woodbridge, VA. Our service areas are Bethesda, McLean, Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Rockville, Potomac, Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Petworth, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Vienna, Falls Church, and Reston. Call (571) 432-9625 to confirm scheduling for your address.
How does a remodeling estimate work?
We schedule a walkthrough at your home, assess the existing conditions, discuss your goals and budget, and follow up with a detailed written estimate. No charge for the estimate and no obligation to move forward.
Do you handle permits for kitchen and bathroom remodels?
Yes — we pull required permits and schedule required inspections. You don't have to coordinate inspectors on your own.
How long will my renovation take?
Scope drives timeline: a bathroom renovation typically takes 1–3 weeks, a full kitchen remodel 4–8 weeks, and basement finishing 3–6 weeks. We provide a firm project schedule before work begins.
Can I stay in my home during a renovation?
For most kitchen and bathroom projects, yes. We contain the work area and restore basic function each evening. For full-home gut renovations, we usually recommend temporary housing for 4–10 weeks depending on scope.
What types of remodeling does 5 Star handle?
We handle kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, basement finishing, full-home renovations, flooring and interior work, and general contracting including additions, decks, and structural changes — Required permits are pulled with the project.
