Call NowRequest an EstimateAged halogen and incandescent fixtures run significantly hotter than LED — old sockets and wiring in contact with hot bulbs degrade faster than most homeowners realize.
Most homes have overhead lighting in maybe a third of the rooms where people actually spend time. Living rooms have one ceiling fixture. Kitchens have a single overhead globe. Bedrooms have switched outlets but no ceiling light. The result is that people live by lamps, and rooms feel dim and dated. Recessed lighting changes that — a properly laid out can-light plan gives you the right light level in every area of a room, controlled by dimmers or by zone. It's not an aesthetic luxury; it's functional lighting for how the room actually gets used.
A 65-watt incandescent recessed bulb left on for four hours a day costs roughly $9 per year — per bulb. Replace eight of those with 9-watt LEDs and you save roughly $60 a year. That's a real payback on the upgrade cost within two to three years, before you count the bulb replacements you're no longer doing. Old halogen fixtures also run hot enough to accelerate degradation of the socket wiring and, in some cases, to scorch the insulation around the can housing. An LED retrofit eliminates the heat load entirely.

Most recessed light installs in existing homes use remodel cans — fixtures designed to clip into a ceiling opening without access from above. The electrician cuts the opening, fishes wire from the switch location, and snaps the fixture in. On a first-floor room with attic access, even full new-wiring runs are relatively clean. The job is measured in hours, not days, and typically doesn't require painting or drywall repair. We confirm the approach when we quote — there are no surprises about what the ceiling will look like after.
Motion-activated lights work when they cover the approach paths that matter: the driveway, the side gates, the back door. A fixture mounted too high or aimed incorrectly gives a false sense of coverage. We assess your property, recommend mounting locations and detection angles, and wire new circuits if the existing outdoor outlets aren't in the right locations. Photocell fixtures that activate at dusk and deactivate at dawn are also straightforward to install — and more reliable than timer-based alternatives as seasons change.
We install recessed lighting, ceiling fans, dimmer circuits, and LED upgrades cleanly and efficiently.

In most cases, no. Remodel-style recessed cans are designed to install through a ceiling hole without attic access. If the room is directly below an attic, we can often run wire cleanly without any drywall work. We describe the installation approach in the quote.
Usually yes, but the existing box needs to be fan-rated — standard light fixture boxes aren't designed for the dynamic load of a spinning motor. We replace the box with an approved fan-rated box as part of the install. If there's no switch leg to the location, we can add one.
Most often this is a compatibility issue between the dimmer and the LED bulbs or fixtures — not all dimmers work with all LED loads. The fix is usually replacing the dimmer with one rated for LED loads, or in some cases replacing the bulbs with a compatible model. We diagnose and fix it on the same visit.
Cost depends on the number of fixtures, ceiling material and access, and whether the circuit run needs to come from the panel or can tap an existing location. We quote per-room after seeing the space — there's no useful ballpark without knowing what's above the ceiling.
Motion-activated floodlights at approach paths — driveway entry, back gate, side yard — cover the most ground. Photocell dusk-to-dawn fixtures at the front porch and garage add ambient coverage. We assess your property layout and recommend mounting heights and angles that actually cover what they're supposed to.
“They did a great job replacing the lights under and on top of my kitchen cabinets. Nice clean work. Also very friendly.”
“Amazing service!”
“Ebenezer did an excellent job replacing a breaker and an outdated dryer outlet. His work looks great, and he is professional. He came the day after I called and worked for a reasonable rate. I highly recommend.”
